NOW even the underwears are failing quality tests!
Shanghai’s market watchdog said yesterday that some of the women’s
underwears had issues with poor color fastness, fiber content and a high
pH index, all of which pose health risks.
Two batches were made by a local radiation protection clothing producer.
A batch of underwear skirt for pregnant women, made by Shanghai
Tianxiang Co Ltd, a radiation protection clothing producer, was found to
have poor color fastness to sweat stains. Dye in clothing with poor
color fastness bleeds onto skin, which can be harmful.
Some types of fibers in Tianxiang’s products were less than what the label indicated.
A batch of underpants sold at the Yanggao Road M. outlet of Lotus and
made by the Yiwu Shangmin Clothing Co had a high pH index, which can
cause skin allergies and make people vulnerable to bacteria.
The Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau checked
80 batches of female underwear products and 11 had quality problems.
Bureau officials reminded consumers to pick up underwears made of pure fiber and with light color.
They suggested that consumers should wash them before trying them on.
