Certificates
issued by State Madarasa Boards are recognized equivalent to CBSE
certificates. It was indicated in a reply received from the Ministry of
Minorities Affairs. So far, 17 Muslim concentration areas have been
excluded from the implementation of “Literate India Scheme”, under this
scheme, out of 88 Muslim concentrated areas, only 61 districts have been
covered. In 33 districts, education is being provided by public
educational institutions. After the implementation of this scheme an
increase of 29-44% enrollment was registered at primary level. This
increase was 67% at higher elementary level.
In primary education in 2008-09, the enrollment increased from 1.97 to 2.55 in 2011-12. In higher Primary level of education, the enrollment of Muslim students increased from 43 lakh to 72 lakh from 2008-09 to 2011-12.
The ratio of enrollment among the girls and boys increased from 0.98% in 2008-09 to 1.05% in 2011-12.
For the implementation of quality education in Madrasas, the scheme has been divided into two categories. It includes better salaries for teachers, computerization and financial assistance. A sum of Rs.182.49 was sanctioned for payment of salaries to 23,146 teachers working in 9,905 schools.
As per the Government Scheme, financial assistance is given to schools where the Muslim population is 25% or more. In 374 backward districts one model college is proposed to be set up. In 2012-13 sanction has been accorded for establishing 10 such model colleges.
